Well, it’s over.

With the singularly most pathetic single-game performance I’ve seen from any of the professional sports teams I root for, the New York Mets are finished. 7 games up with 17 to go, and they blew it.
I’m going to go do something else. Tomorrow there will be a summary of this epic collapse. I don’t have much to say right now.
The collapse in 1998, the losses in the 1999 and 2006 NLCS, the 2000 World Series, and now this. Unreal.
Congratulations to the Philadelphia Phillies, who played like a team that deserved it the last two weeks. The Mets did not. I sincerely hope Willie enjoys his champagne while he’s golfing later in the week, or better yet, looking for a new job.
The Giants suck too, but at least hockey season starts Thursday. Let’s go Rangers.
On edit: Giants beat the Eagles. Uh, yeah, take that Philly! To hell with you and your playoff-bound baseball team. Damn it.
