Computers and cold sores – life’s great annoyances.

Earlier today my laptop locked up. “No big deal”, I say. I’m expecting it to be the usual blue-screen-of-death fare. Nope, not this time! I restarted it to find, to my horror, the following error:
UMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
After trying the various fixes on the Microsoft website (involving the Windows CD and chkdsk) the diagnostic tool for my hard drive I downloaded from the Hitachi website finally did the trick. I was quite relieved. For much of the afternoon I was seriously pondering how I was going to recover all of my data from my dead hard drive, and subsequently just how many times I was going to hit it with a baseball bat to let it know I did not appreciate the way it wasted my day. After a few hours of work all is once again well in the world, however.
Oh, I also hate cold sores. I’m self-conscious enough without looking like a fucking leper. Eventful day all around!
